Star Wars: Rogue One

A couple of weekends ago, Eugene & I went to see the latest Star Wars movie, Rogue One. Here are our thoughts on the movie.

"amummyslifenz" "star wars" "rogue one" "movie review"To be honest, I’m still not completely sure how I feel about this movie. It kind of felt like a placeholder movie to fill in missing details from the previous one. The storyline itself wasn’t too bad although the acting wasn’t exactly first grade in my honest opinion. There were times when scenes came across a little cheesy.

It was a little difficult working out where each scene worked in relation to The Force Awakens although I’m am pretty sure that they had copy and pasted one or two from the other movie into Rogue One.

Eugene flat out felt that Rogue One was crap. Neither of us would recommend seeing it at the theatre. We both feel that it would make a better DVD night movie instead.

I have to agree the movie was okay but not something I would want toi see in the theaters. It does fall flat.

Glad you wrote this up, now I know that I don’t have to feel like I’m missing out if I wait until it hits DVD.

  3. Firstly you do know that Rogue One is a prequel to Star Wars: A New Hope and has no real connection to The Force Awakens?

Secondly I do agree with your points. It was a bit of a mess of a film that no one really wanted to see, but was made to fill the gap in between Episode 7 and 8, as DIsney need to get the money back from the original deal. I thought that there wasn’t much character development and the plot was pretty basic.

However as a film it was enjoyable and it was cool to see Grand Moff Tarkin and Vader again on the big screen. Seeing Vader’s castle was a nice easter egg too.
