Hard At Work | Friday Favourites

Hard at work decluttering, hair colour removal and more weight loss. As usually for a Friday I am sharing my weeks highs and lows for another Friday Favourites linky post with Maria and Lisa. If you missed last week’s post, you can read it here!

Declutter Project

This week I have been hard at work decluttering. So far I’ve done the garage, the porch & part of the linen closet.  I’ve filled up 2 skips and need to arrange for another one to continue. Sometimes the kids help me. Mostly they just get in the way.  I have plans to do the spare room/office, the kids bedrooms and the hoard of toys. You have no idea what a relief I am feeling by getting rid of all the stuff we have “stored’ away “just-in-case.”

Captain Cuddles

This one is probably a bit random for you readers but I am so proud of the progress Cuddles has made walking on his lead. Since he had never been on a lead before we got him it’s taken a while for him to work out what the lead means and how to walk on it. I spent the first week pretty much either carrying him or dragging him. But the last few days he’s started walking ahead excitedly and copying Jazz. Now I just need to train him to walk beside me rather than pull on the lead. But progress is progress.

The Weight Just Keeps On Dropping

Since I posted my weight loss update I am pleased to be able to tell you that the weight is still dropping. I am now down to 93 kg which puts me at a total of 12.5 kg loss. Between walking the dogs every morning and all the work I am doing in decluttering the house I’m getting a good workout! Oh, and even more exciting? Today I am wearing a pair of shorts that I haven’t been able to fit in since the early months of my pregnancy with Bella!

Postnatal Depression

Just before Christmas my doctor upped my PND meds to two pills a day in preparation for the stress that having all the kids home for the school holidays, the uncertainty that Eugene’s work was putting us through, trying to deal with Danielle’s tantrums and emotional outbursts calmly and not screaming at her instead, etc. Yesterday, I had my month trial check in with my doctor to see how I’m going. The end result being I will be staying on the two pills a day until next Spring (September/October) and then start the weaning process.

Natural Hair Colour

Yesterday I did something that I consider rather brave and very frightening. I stripped the dye out of my hair using My Hair Dresser Permanent Colour Remover and returned it to it’s natural graying state. I’ve decided to stay my natural colour for a while. That’s the scary part. I’ve been dying my hair since I was 12. I have never been my natural colour for more than a day between colours in 21 years!

    Wow, you’ve done great on your de-cluttering! I managed to de-clutter a store room at our store and it look so good to see the unneeded junk go! I still haven’t found the time to start at the house, but that will be soon!

    Congrats on the weight loss (been there) and the decluttering. You have a lot going on in your life. As for me, caregiving adventures, and a family visit later today will round out my week.

    Thanks for sharing – definitely sounds like there are some highs and lows there – but how awesome about the weight loss!?
    I’ve definitely had an up and down week too – My 5 month old son has had awful day sleeps (deciding 2-3x 30 minute catnaps will suffice….) but had some lovely catch-ups with friends around this too. I guess there are always positives and negatives!

    • Hi Fi, none of my babies have every been very good sleepers either. My youngest (15 months) has decided to start dropping her naps now so we’re only getting approx 30 minutes every 2nd day instead :/
