The Bookcase Declutter

Another post in my Declutter series! This time it’s the bookcase!

Most of this just need tidying up. But there were a few things on the shelves that I wanted to throw out and get rid of. Things like my study notes from six years ago that were of no use to me. I kept my theory books however because they will always be helpful seeing that they are based on marketing, accounting and economics.

After that, it was sorting out my fiction vs non-fiction books (They are pretty much all my books since Eugene doesn’t read a lot). I put all the non-fiction books on the top shelf. The books that were part of a series or were assorted fictional topics on the next shelf down. The next two shelves contain Mills & Boon books (yes I do read that trash) and the last shelf now contains my photo albums.

  1. It’s amazing what a difference just straightening out a few books can do to the appearance of your book shelf. I love books – it’s so hard to purge!

  2. Its good that you still have plenty of space for new books too!

  3. Its heart wrenching to clean out one’s bookshelves but I have started doing the same. I have told myself no new books if there is no more room on the shelf – so I have to weed out stuff from my shelves, whether I like it or not.

oh, i did end up cleaning book shelves across the house as well over the last weekend.. should have taken before/after photos .. just to make myself accomplished if not for any other reason.. decluttering is always so satisfying..

Looks great! I de-cluttered my desk today, what a project that was! But in the end I’m happy I finally was determined to complete the project without getting side tracked to much.
