My Gym Workout Routine

I mentioned a little while ago that Eugene & I had joined a gym. Just for fun, I thought I’d share with you what my typical workout routine at the gym looks like. There are two routines that I like to do. I have a more compact workout for the days when we are short on time which generally take me about an hour and a more general workout which takes closer to 1.5-2 hours. I like to have a focus on both cardio and strength in my workout and so I have set up my routine accordingly.

My General Workout

Generally designed to get the most out of my time. This is a more “relaxed” (and I use that term loosely because at no time am I actually relaxed while working out) where I can take my time and just go at it. This one is very similar to Eugene’s workout too. Generally the only difference between our workouts is the number of reps and weights on the weight machines and the second treadmill addition.

  • 20 minutes on treadmill alternatively walking and running on level 2 incline and a pace range of 4.5 to 10.
  • 20 minutes on bike.
  • 2000 meters on rowing machine.
  • 3 x 10 reps of most weight machines at between 10-14 kg each or 27 kg on the lat pull machine.
  • 20 minutes on crosstrainer.
  • 10 minutes walking on treadmill.
  • 20 minutes in alternative laps of walking and swimming in pool.

My Compact Workout

This is a more focused workout with higher focus on working my whole body in less time.

  • 20 minutes on crosstrainer.
  • 5000 meters on rowing machine.
  • 2 x 10 reps of most weight machines at between 15-30 kg.

    I prefer to workout at home. Good luck

    • I prefer to workout at home during the week as well but my main reason for attending in the weekend is to help support my husband in his journey, just as he is supporting me.
