As usual for a Friday I am sharing my weeks highs and lows for another Friday Favourites linky post with Maria and Lisa. If you missed last week’s post, you can read it here! Normally I’d have this post out bright and early but surprise, surprise I actually on a day out today! And I’ll tell you all about it below!
Last Week Of The Holidays
Yip, it’s the last week of the school holidays. Monday will be that last day that my school aged kids will be home. Of course, Danielle has already gone back to kindy this week. Which. Is. Awesome. I honestly can’t wait for next Tuesday! Peace and quiet at last! (Is anyone else as excited about that fact as I am?)
Danielle’s Emergency Haircut
So, yeah, I’ve already blogged about this particular event this week but it’s still worth mentioning in this post. Because it’s both a high and a low. A low in the view that Blake was not particularly well behaved last weekend and cut Danielle’s hair and a high because with her new cut, Danielle doesn’t have to brush her hair so often. Which is great because she HATES brushing her curly hair.
Recently I have discovered the delights of having my groceries delivered during the holidays. This is a huge relief for me because, hello?! FOUR kids. Ever tried to shop with four kids in tow? Plus the amount of groceries required weekly to feed 3 adults, 4 kids, 4 cats and 2 dogs?! Yeah, it’s a LOT! Usually in the school term I shop while the older three kids are at school and kindy which means I can use their seats to put the additional groceries in that don’t fit in the car boot. Can’t do that in the holidays which means I either have to wait for the weekend or the evening when Eugene is around to watch the kids so I can go out and do it without them. So having my groceries delivered? HUGE relief. The only downside is that I can’t order perishables and need to do a quick in shop visit for those items but the rest? AWESOME!
Our Day Out
Now for the reason my post is out later today than it normally is! Today I had to take a trip out to Haumoana to have a look at some items that Eugene and I are looking to purchase. Since Haumoana is where our local petting zoo, Hawke’s Bay Farmyard Zoo is located I decided to excuse Danielle from kindy for the day and take the kids to the petting zoo.
Of course, we were super early to look at the stuff and the zoo doesn’t open until 10 am so we spent half an hour wandering up and down Haumoana Beach while the kids played in the crashing waves. Danielle managed to fall over in some of the waves and got soaked on the one day I didn’t have a spare change of clothes for her so when we got back to the car I had to strip her off one item of clothing at a time to wring out as much of the water as possible before dressing her in it again. Since it was quite a hot day today, it didn’t take long for her clothes to dry anyway.
Then we headed to the petting zoo and spent a lovely hour and a half wandering around feeding all the animals. Celine, Blake and Danielle each took a pony ride. Isabella got to be pushed around the park in the pram before all the kids had a short play on the playground.
Lastly, we had McDonald’s for lunch. Since the closest McDonald’s to home is about a 40 minute drive it is considered a real treat for the kids to have. They ate their lunch and had a play on the McDonald’s playground and then we got ice cream cones on our way out to eat on our way home. Well, Celine had a mcflurry but the rest of us had cones.
All in all, it’s been a lovely day and a relatively good week. How was your week?
