I am by no means a news blogger so don’t expect up-to-date gossip on the stars. But even I am saddened by the news that cancer has claimed not one, not two but THREE famous lives this week. The most recent being of cause Celine Dion’s husband, Rene Angelil, and Alan Rickman, who is probably most known for playing Professor Snape in the Harry Potter series.

The one that saddens me the most though, is David Bowie. I have many childhood memories of watching him play Jareth the Goblin King in the Labyrinth. I can remember spending hours watching it over and over again on VHS (OMG do you remmeber those? I feel so old!) pretending to be Sarah trying to rescue her baby brother.
I remember watching with my bestie as children and I’m pretty excited that they are showing Labyrinth tonight on television so I can introduce it to my children.
David Bowie did many other movies obviously. Some of the ones that I’ve seen are Zoolander and Arthur and the Invisibles (he played Emperor Malthazard).
I wasn’t a big fan of his music, but to be honest most of it pre-dates me and music taste tends to be a generational thing. But I can say that his talents in both acting and music has impacted and inspired many, MANY people.
Fare thee well David Bowie, Alan Rickman and Rene Angelil. The heavens have gained some bright stars indeed to light the sky this week.
