The school holidays are nearly over and the new school term is fast approaching. It’s once again time to start thinking of ideas to make the boring old lunch box exciting again!
Luncheon and Cheese Rolls
Sandwiches can pretty much be considered a lunch box staple but sometimes they can get boring. I like to switch it up occasionally with a luncheon and cheese roll. Alternatively, you can also use slices of roast beef, ham, and chicken. Leave it plain or add in some tomato, lettuce and mayo.
My kids love getting homemade treats in their lunch box. Some of their favourites are my chocolate chip biscuits, instant pudding biscuits, chocolate muffins, lolly cake balls, scones and so much more!
Fruit is another staple. My kids lunch box favourites are apples, bananas, grapes, mandarins, pineapples, watermelon, carrot sticks, or even a combination of them all. If you have a large enough container that will still fit in your lunch box, try making a little fruit salad for them. Just sprinkle a little lemon juice over the fruit to keep it fresh!
I purchased some sistema knick knack containers from the supermarket during last term which are the perfect size for putting in a packet of raisins or other dried fruits, various nuts, small crackers, marshmallows, lollies, and anything else you can think of that are small enough for lunch box fillers.
Tip: Make the lunch boxes the night before to save time in the morning for the before school or kindy rush!
