Being a mother is definitely a very rewarding experience. From those first newborn baby snuggles to those sloppy toddler kisses to the very sweet “I love you Mummy” uttered from your kindy kid as you leave them to play and the “I missed you Mummy” when you pick them up. But motherhood is also one of the most isolating experiences you can feel.
It can be hard to know where to turn when you feel lonely as a mother. Often, motherhood means that your friends without children tend to drop away and it can be hard to build new friendships. It can be hard to find someone you can trust to ask all those questions that you’re unsure about. Someone you can ask the “is this normal?” questions of. Someone you can get experienced advice from.
There’s a new social network coming to New Zealand. Mummates.co.nz “is New Zealand’s first ever fully responsive and versatile online social networking community for women.” It’s a social network for New Zealand Mothers by New Zealand Mothers with the purpose of sharing, guiding and advising mothers in every aspect of motherhood from pregnancy, birth, parenting, health, and so much more.
And while Mummates is still in the launching process there is also a facebook page that you can check out and go to for updates. I’d love for you to go check it out!
